Leo's First Birthday!

Happy First Birthday, Leo Michael!! We love you so much Blue Eyes. You bring our family incredible happiness and we have enjoyed watching your grow and change throughout this past year. Your actual birthday fell on a Thursday, so you got to spend the day with Amma and Naps while Mommy and Daddy were at work. Amma and Max mad you a delicious carrot cake! It was very yummy. After dinner and cake, Mama took you to her school's boys' soccer team championship. Lots of Mama's students were on the team this year & they won! What a great birthday treat.

At your one year appointment you were 24.11 lb. 31 inches tall and your head was 18 3/4 in in the 90-95th percentile in each category.  You are a big boy! You love to pull yourself up and scoot from place to place. You are very good at using your walker, and love to climb up the stairs as fast as you can. Everyone still comments daily about your beautiful blue eyes! Your sweet smile is still brightening up our days. You are starting to solely eat table foods, resisting most baby foods we still try to give you. You LOVE fruit, just like brother, and you drink a lot of Vitamin D milk each and every day. You also have a sweet tooth like Mommy and Max. Whenever you hear one of us in the pantry you instantly want whatever we are getting. Your always making silly faces and love to try new noises. Happy Birthday Baby!! We love you!!

Turtle Time

The boys and I headed up to the lake for Memorial Day weekend. Max was in the water by the shore, when all of the sudden he scooped up a baby turtle with his shovel! We were all shocked, especially since my dad has been trying to catch him one for the past couple of summers. When I was kid we would find two or three each weekend- not sure what has happened to us, lol- but maybe Max will be the next great turtle catcher, hehe.

Leo's hair is growing in so much at the top, when I put suntan lotion in he has an instant mohawk :)

Score!!

Max started his first season of soccer this May.  He was one of the youngest players on his team-Argentina @ the YMCA. He tried really hard, but was very cautious of hurting someone or stealing the ball. Most of the three-year-olds were like that, so I think his aggressive nature in sports will come next year. (Unless he is like me, and it will take even longer!)  He was adorable to watch. I loved how whenever the coach asked him to run out to the field he would instantly get up and go. He never stopped working hard, even when the other kids were much bigger and stronger than him. Max even inspired Daddy, the soccer nay-sayer  to give the sport a try this fall at the policeman/fireman soccer game. Go Max!!

Here he is at his first match. His coach was really nice and helped the kids understand the game. Max really liked him!

He got a chance to do a sidelines throw. I was more excited than him, lol. He also loved the oranges.

In the top left picture he was able to try playing goalie. It was hilarious! The coach's wife was trying to tell him what to do. He was so focused on his stance, that he wouldn't move from his position, even if the ball was going through the goal. Haha. He liked it though. I think snack time might have been his favorite part, but he did talk about his games for quite a while. He was always very curious about which colored team he would play next. Leo also got into the game for awhile. Pretty soon both boys will be out in the backyard playing together!

Leo's 1st Time Swimming

It feels like Leo has been with us for so long, when we went swimming at Ken and Karan's pond, I almost forgot that it was his first time going swimming. Last summer he was still really little and we didn't feel comfortable putting him in the water. He loved it! Leo was adorable in his floatie. He didn't stop smiling.

Big brother had a lot of fun too! He loved jumping of the deck.

Drake's 3rd Birthday

Our nephew Drake celebrated his 3rd birthday at a lake down in Nobelsville, IN where the Lockwoods live. We drove down with Amma and Naps and then spent the day celebrating Drakester's big day. We had a wonderful time! The weather was beautiful and we had a lot of fun walking by the water, playing baseball with the boys, and watching the kids play at the playground. Drake got a lot of neat things and it was hilarious watching him play with some of his gifts. Here are some photos from our day.
