Enter Fall

We spent the first weekend of Fall visiting my family in Sylvania. We had a crazy couple of days! From scarfing down pizza before watching Zach play drums @ the football game (in the rain), to driving out to Maumee Bay State Park to battle the elements again for Zach's cross country meet, visiting with the Carrero's and eating dinner at the Elephant Bar, then meeting my grandma to go to Cassandra and Marissa's play (they did an amazing job!)- it was busy, but fun!

Here are a few snapshots of our weekend.

Waiting in downtown Sylvania for J&G's.

Watching Uncle Zach!

Looking down the hill before the race.

We took the boys for a little walk before the race started. This is the hill Zach had to run up.

Waiting for Zach to finish the race.

Max and Luca.

Leo on Marco's horse. They loved the playroom!

Johnny Appleseed Festival

Two weeks ago, Kelli and Drake came up for the weekend to visit. We spent Saturday letting the boys play and visiting family; then on Sunday, we decided to go to Fort Wayne's Johnny Appleseed Festival. This is a really big tradition in Fort Wayne. Surprisingly, this was my first time going. It was really neat! Lots of food, people, and games for the kids. We enjoyed walking around and taking in our surroundings. The boys wanted to play every game they had. It was fun watching them get so excited. The food was tasty- cowboy steaks and tater delights, lol. Ken, Kelli, the boys and I had a great time! Ken reminded us all that the Hills are related to Johnny Appleseed...I can't remember how, but I'll ask him again next year, hehe.

Max's 1st Day of Preschool

We took Max to his first day of preschool on Tuesday, September 4th. The first day was only a 1/2 hour, and parents were able to attend with their children. Clint and I both got to go with Max, meet his teachers, and look around the room. Max loved it right from the start! He actually walked in and went straight for the cars on other toys on the ground, lol.

Leo made himself at home as well! He wanted to sit at the table, play with the toys, and he followed the big kids everywhere. He is not shy at all!

Classroom apple tree.

After the teacher's demonstration of the parking lot drop off area, Max went over to the kids' chalkboard and tried to copy her illustration. He did a pretty good job!

Daddy and I are very proud of you, Maxwell! His teacher already told us that he is a very good and helpful boy. He shares his toys well and has helped pick up everyday. He also made a really neat project at his first full day, which was Sep. 11th-he went for two hours. We hope you have a fun year buddy!

Soccer No Longer = Communism

Clint completely surprised us all when he said that he was going to voluntarily play in the FWPD vs. FWFD annual soccer game. It wasn't because Clint is nonathletic or anything; it is due to the fact that Clint has always hated soccer, views it as a communist sport, and pretty much ridicules anyone who plays it-including one of his best friends. He didn't even want Max to wear a soccer type outfit from my friend Michelle when he was born! But, people change, and for some reason Clint decided that this was his year to try something new. He put on some shin guards, bought some cleats  and ran joyously onto the field. ;) Maybe not joyously, but he did have a good time. The boys, Karan, and Ken were able to watch his debut. Even though his team didn't win, Clint played very well! It was a lot of fun watching him run after the ball, make several steals, and some great passes. If he keeps practicing, maybe the FWPD will win next year.

1st End of Summer Feast

While shopping at Kroger I saw that the crab legs were on sale for a pretty good price. I thought, hmmm steak, crab legs, and some coronas would make a very tasty end of summer celebratory feast. So, I bought the goods and headed home to start cooking (actually, I asked Clint if he could start grilling). Everything was soo good! Max was really excited for our feast, so much so that we are going to make this a family tradition. Little Leo loved it so much he decided to decorate his hair with the leftovers ;) .

Full belly!!
