A Day in Gruene

Saturday before the wedding and again on Monday afternoon my family and I went to a little town in Texas called Gruene. There were lots of little shops, antique stores, old fashioned Blue Bell ice cream, and a rustic, really cool restaurant called The Gristmill.

On Saturday we all walked around for awhile looking at the stores. Emily and Jeff found a really cute pink princess cowboy hate for Johanna! She was so adorable!

The weather was perfect and we enjoyed walking around and being outdoors. I know I'm going to miss the sun over the next few months.

I love my little Hannie.

Leo loved taking a stroller ride around town.

Johanna loves to fly with Mom and Dad!

Monday afternoon my parents, Leo and I decided to go back to Gruene and eat at The Gristmill. It is a beautiful restaurant above the Guadalupe river. The Guadalupe is the largest sports river in the United States. I would love to go back again and go kayaking or tubing down it. This restaurant was an old cotton gin that was destroyed be a weevil infestation almost 100 years ago (more info from my sister, lol). The entire place is open air seating right above the water. It was so neat! We tried some of their onion rings, tortilla soup, and for desert we had some famous Texas Pecan Pie. Nom Nom!! It was scrumptious.

There was a nice breeze while we ate- perfect temperature.

Leo really enjoyed looking out at the water.

A Texas Longhorn. We actually saw a young one walking across the road near John and Martha's neighborhood.

It was a neat place!
